Verdisian Defence Force
What is the Verdisian Defence Force?
The Verdisian Defence Force (VDF) is the national armed forces for the Free Republic of Verdis, charged with safeguarding national interest, sovereignty and internal stability. Operating under the command of the government, the VDF answers to the elected government through the Minister of Defence, with the President of the Free Republic of Verdis serving as the Commander-in-Chief. The National Guard (NG) is the largest and most visible component of the Verdisian Defence Force. It serves as the country’s main fighting force, while also housing the majority of the Defence Force’s logistical, administrative, and technical capabilities.
Currently, the National Guard controls the main sectors of the Defence Force, including sub-units such as the Presidential Guard Unit (the sub-unit that acts as direct security to the President of the Free Republic of Verdis). Other sub-units include Administrative and Command services, Intelligence analysis and communications, and Disaster response/Humanitarian assistance.
The Verdisian Defence Force also is responsible for maintaining internal security during national emergencies, providing manpower and resources for international peacekeeping or allied missions.
